Novice computer users

    • Few programs
    • No technical knowledge
    • Flat learning curve: will learn program slowly
    • Require more traditional elements: teaching and guidance levels of task orientation

Experienced computer users

    • Many programs
    • More open-ended programs,
    • Limited technical knowledge: boards, modems,
    • Medium learning curve: will learn program more quickly
    • Require fewer traditional elements: guidance and support levels of task orientation

Expert computer users

    • Many programs
    • Many open-ended programs
    • Extensive technical knowledge
    • Sharp learning curve: will learn very quickly
    • Require mostly innovative elements: some guidance but mostly support levels of task orientation
